Bhagyashree was a member of the Marathi royal family of Sangli in Maharashtra, India. She was the daughter of the fourth and last king of Sangli, Viyasimharaje Patwardhan and Rajyalakshmi Patwardhan. Bhagyashree has two sisters Madhuvanti and Purnima.
Being from the royal family, it was not easy for Bhagyashree to enter the world of color. She said in an interview, "I am a member of the conservative royal family of Sangli, Maharashtra." I am the eldest among three sisters. In our family, it was a tradition that a daughter should get married at a certain age and plan for children. But I was sent to a convent school.
Bhagyashree also mentioned in the interview that she had to wear a saree from the age of 13. Bhagyashree, recalling her childhood from a different background, says, "In a sense, we had a double life. I was born and brought up in Mumbai. Here I and my sisters were normal like other children. But in Sangli, the protocol my father laid down was different. There was a clear range of what to do and what not to do. When I was about 13 years old and studying in class eight, I started wearing sarees. The manner in which we used to wear clothes, walk, talk, sit, meet with other people, we had to follow a special dignity.
Being the eldest daughter of the house, her responsibility in the family was also increased. Along with his father, he also had to be involved in listening to the problems and complaints of the people around him and solving them.

Bhagyashree stepped into the colorful world in 1987. His acting journey started with the famous serial 'Kachchi Dhoop' which was aired on Doordarshan at that time. Two years later, she was signed to the film Maine Pyaar Kiya. His film career started from this point along with Salman Khan.

Later she married a member of a Marwari family. 54-year-old Bhagyashree is currently living a homely life with her husband Himalaya and their two children. Growing up in a different background, it was not easy for her to get used to normal life. However, she said that after marriage, she balanced all these things and moved forward.
